The various jobs in the Adult Industry

Choosing a career in the adult industry does not necessarily mean you are a Porn performer on screen.  There are so many different aspects and I will touch on some today.  When I interviewed Bruce the Owner of Adult Site Broker, I was intrigued to know what lead him to specializing in the sale of Adult Websites and what intrigued him about his weekly podcast Adult Talk that mostly interviews those involved as performers in the Adult industry.   This got me thinking about other ways people who may want to be involved in working in the adult industry could get involved without being a performer.  Here are some options:

Chat agents:

There are companies that hire people to work from home to be a chat agent.  By this, it is similar to a webcam show without the video.  You are still discussing their fetishes, fantasies or KINK and there is still roleplay but you are never seen.  You will need to have a creative imagination, reliable phone service and flexible hours.   You must also have an open mind and be able to take your customer into their fantasy.

There are a number of adult online magazines, news websites and adult industry shows where they need a talented writer to cover the event and or interview talent.   You must have good writing skills and being bilingual is a huge plus as well.

How about when you look at the online images of all talent from a red carpet Expo or awards show.  Someone is taking those images. Or what about on set when the talent is shooting still images for marketing  the scene, again a photographer is needed for this as well. You must have your own equipment, photography skills, comfortable being on a set where intercourse takes place and editing kills for the finished product.

Adult retail store:

You can work as an online or standing adult store.  Choose a specialty such as BDSM products, lingerie, adult toys or adult games.    Be sure to work with a webmaster who knows the industry.

The more you know, the more successful you will be.  This is a competitive field and you should be proficient in everything from design to adding daily content.  You can also set up affiliate programs and should have knowledge in SO marketing as well as merchant account processors that specialize in high risk.

Legal field:

The adult industry needs attorneys on our side.  You will need a thorough understanding of copyright infringement laws, DMCA complaints and even specializing in 2257 compliancy.

There are so many other options as well. Makeup, hair, director, editor, producer and even branching into sex therapist and mental health coach.

Whatever career path you take in or outside of the industry, make sure you enjoy your job and being professional is the key in any business.

Till next time,
